Ahhh Tournament prep - such a great motivator to get some new models painted up with a deadline looming. Renegade GT Nov 18-19 was right around the corner (it's now tomorrow) and I wanted to get some more Bloodbound models into my heavily Daemon favored Blades of Khorne army. At Adepticon 2017 I ran all daemons except the Bloodsecrator. He was just so good that I had to bring him. This time I decided he needed to bring some friends along.
When I got the approval a few months ago to attend the tournament here in Minnesota I was ecstatic but wanted to try to bring in more mortal models (they're sweet) and mix it up a bit. Additionally after having my butt handed to me by mixed destruction and Tzeentch I thought maybe adding a bit of a competitive edge would also help. Welcome Gore Pilgrims!
The Gore Pilgrims was a battalion I heard of from a (I think) Scruby & Wells podcast in which he interviewed a fellow Blood god follower. This guy was primarily a Bloodbound player and this battalion was referenced over and over. I looked it up and decided I'd let others decide how to make my list a bit better and decided to paint up a minimum size Gore Pilgrims battalion to go with my daemons.
5 Blood warriors, 10 Blood Reavers, and a Slaughterpriest would need to be painted to add to my other Slaughterpriest and Bloodsecrator.
With time not on my side I decided I would do the best I could to keep them up to my quality standard while cutting a few corners here and there.
Slaughterpriest here I hit with a bit of red airbush, but felt without a bunch of taping (time) I figured going to the brush after that would be best. Love this guy with the re-roll to his prayer. He spends his time in supplication for his enemies blood to boil and to send the rage to a unit of Bloodletters so they go into even more of a killing frenzy.
Blood warriors with gorefists, they're meant to die so hopefully I'll make a few saves and cause some mortal wounds on the way down. I especially enjoyed painting a chaos rune tattoo on the champion's head! Again I went with the airbrush on the red pieces and also on their bone armor.
Really excited to participate in my first GT. I played in the Adepticon 1 day only so a full 5 game GT is on deck for the weekend. I have a feeling I'm going to learn A LOT on my way to defeat. I was able to get 2 practice games in so at least I shouldn't mess up my own rules.
Blood for the Blood god, Skulls for the Skull Throne!!!
I'll be back soon to regale you all on my weekend endeavors.
